The Mexborough and Swinton Astronomical Society are an active astronomy group that runs a weekly programme covering various topics in astronomy. The society operates the J.A. Jones Hoober Observatory, which is open to the public via their Community Access Programme.

    Everyone is welcome to join the friendly members of the Mexborough & Swinton Astronomical Society at their regular Thursday evening gatherings in their meeting room at the Swinton Bottom Club.

    The Society's weekly programme consists of lectures and talks from a wide range of visiting speakers and members and training where more experienced observers pass on their skills to new ones.

    These sessions are a great way to meet local astronomers, get help and advice on equipment and learn about the group's practical observing sessions and observatory.

    Note: these sessions are also accessible remotely via Zoom -- please get in touch with the Society for more details.
