Danby Lodge National Park Centre is a recognised Dark Sky Discovery Site, a perfect location for public members to enjoy incredible views of the nighttime skies over the North York Moors Dark Sky Reserve.
In February 2026 a new facility opened, the Danby Lodge Dark Skies Station, which includes and observatory, warm room for presentations and a patio area for telescopes.
The national park and local astronomy clubs frequently use the venue for stargazing events, especially during dark skies festivals.
