Danby Dark Skies Station, situated at the Danby Lodge National Park Centre in the North York Moors Dark Sky Reserve, is an exciting new observatory and dedicated stargazing hub within one of England’s premier dark-sky regions.
Located in the heart of the moorland with exceptionally low light pollution, the station enhances traditional Dark Sky Discovery Site experiences by offering visitors a purpose-built facility equipped for night-sky observation, astronomy events, and deep-sky viewing of the Milky Way, planets, and meteor showers.
As part of the National Park’s expanding commitment to dark skies, Danby Dark Skies Station serves both astro-enthusiasts and beginners, with regular stargazing sessions, educational activities, and clear horizons that make it one of the most compelling new astronomy destinations in northern England in 2026.
