Winter stars and the darkest skies of the year!
Saturday 17th January 2026 from 19:30pm to 21:30pm
Sutton Bank Star Hub
Sutton Bank National Park Centre, Thirsk, North Yorkshire, YO7 2EX
Jupiter is at its best for years and will be a prime target for our powerful telescopes. We will share views of its moons and even the weather systems on this giant planet.
But tonight is also a starry one with the moon absent. In fact this is the darkest time of year!
We will take you on a journey through famous constellations like Orion and Taurus and discover its treasures. Definitely not to be missed!
This event is being staged in collaboration with our friends at Go Stargazing! Together we are committed to making stargazing accessible and affordable – viewing the heavens shouldn’t cost the earth.
The Hub provides a warm indoor space for colourful presentations with a purpose built viewing area alongside. If it’s cloudy we will still see stars thanks to a brilliant computer based planetarium show.
