Wynyard Planetarium & Observatory
Thorpe Thewles, Stockton-on-Tees, County Durham, TS21 3JG
Join the friendly volunteers at Wynyard Observatory and Planetarium for the peak of the Perseids Meteor shower from Saturday, 12th August, to the early hour of Sunday, 13th August.
Please note this event is weather dependent. The event is free of charge, and you do not need to book; you are welcome to arrive and leave at any time.
The Planetarium will also be open so you can sit inside to warm up; there will be a few activities, including live images from the all-sky camera. Not only that, there will also be a radio detector listening out for any passing meteors.
The Observatory will also be open for viewing objects using their 14″ aperture telescope, with the help of their volunteers.
So why not join them? Take your favourite comfortable outside chair, and remember to dress for outside.
This event may be cancelled at short notice due to adverse weather conditions.
Please note that this has already taken place on 12/08/2023
