Public Observing with Eastbourne Astronomical Society

Public Observing with Eastbourne Astronomical Society

Saturday 28th March 2020 from 19:00pm to 21:00pm

The Western Lawns - Eastbourne Seafront
King's Edward Parade, Eastbourne, BN21 4EE

Observing will be on the Western Lawns with members of the Eastbourne Astronomical Society through various society telescopes, and specialised cameras, who will be able to point out and show you some of the night sky delights. Child and ability friendly.

The event is of course reliant on the weather – if it is too cloudy or raining observing will not take place – and if there is ice or high winds the event will be cancelled for Health and Safety reasons. We may decant to the Lansdowne Hotel if the weather is inclement.

Wrap up warm if it is a cold evening. Red torches welcomed – white torches and lights not welcomed.

Please note that this event has already taken place on 28/03/2020

Event darkness

The Moon has a big impact on the visibility of celestial bodies in the night sky. Try to plan your stargazing when there is no bright Moon at night as this is when the skies will be at their darkest.

The below chart shows if and when the skies will be at their darkest during this event. Moonlight is shown in light yellow and the Sun's twilight in light blue. Midnight on the date shown is shown as a white line with sunset to the left and sunrise the next morning to the right. A black background with stars shows the best times for stargazing.
