Observing at Flamsteed Observatory
Saturday 15th August 2026 from 20:30pm to 23:00pm
Flamsteed Observatory
Near Brailsford, Derby, Derbyshire, DE6 3BY
Members of the public are welcome to join astronomers from the Derby & District Astronomical Society for monthly observing sessions (usually) on the second Saturday after the first of their monthly meetings (start time varies through the year), except for July and August when the observatory is closed for Summer. These sessions offer the opportunity to look through the Society’s telescopes. If you have a telescope you are welcome to bring it along. Note that anyone attending the observatory does so at their own risk.
If you wish to attend this event, you may simply turn up no earlier than the scheduled start time. Someone will be at the site to let you in. Parking spaces at the site are limited, and in rare cases, it may be necessary for visitors to park at the Rose & Crown in Brailsford, in which case you will be offered a lift back to the observatory. Parking on the lane outside the observatory during the session is not permitted. For more information please contact the Derby & District Astronomical Society Outreach Officer.
