Nocturnal Creature Walk and Stargazing with The Cabrach Trust

Nocturnal Creature Walk and Stargazing with The Cabrach Trust

Friday 30th October 2026 from 17:00pm to 20:30pm

Lower Cabrach Old School
Lower Cabrach, Huntly, Aberdeenshire, AB54 4EU, Scotland

Join the EDF Rangers for a guided evening walk along The Cabrach Discovery Trail and discover the fascinating world that comes alive after dark. Using UV torches and head torches, you’ll search for nocturnal wildlife and other hidden wonders while exploring this unique landscape. With some of Scotland’s darkest skies overhead, there will also be an excellent opportunity for stargazing, with the chance to see constellations, planets and the Milky Way on a clear night. The evening concludes with traditional stovies, a hot drink and time to share discoveries with fellow explorers.

Event darkness

The Moon has a big impact on the visibility of celestial bodies in the night sky. Try to plan your stargazing when there is no bright Moon at night as this is when the skies will be at their darkest.

The below chart shows if and when the skies will be at their darkest during this event. Moonlight is shown in light yellow and the Sun's twilight in light blue. Midnight on the date shown is shown as a white line with sunset to the left and sunrise the next morning to the right. A black background with stars shows the best times for stargazing.
