A great site atop the ridge above Mere with amazing 360-degree views. There is limited parking for up to 6 cars in laybys on the single track White Sheet Lane just a few metres north of the historic White Sheet Camp.
Access from the west by the Red Lion pub. The single-track road is good up to the National Trust Car Park but the remaining 1500m needs caution and some clearance under your vehicle.
Some horizon light pollution but no close sources so sky above is good. The site is exposed to all wind directions and so dress up warm. Do not set up any kit in the road as White Sheet Lane is used by green-laning 4x4s even at night.
The location is within the Cranbourne Chase Dark Sky Reserve and has been recommended by Bath Astronomers.
