Location description

Stonehaugh Stargazing Pavilion is a free to access stargazing location in Kielder Forest and at the heart of the Northumberland International Dark Sky Park. Designed by students from Newcastle University the pavilion was opened in July 2014. It is frequently used as a stargazing venue by Stonehaugh Astronomy who organise events in the nearby Stonehaugh Community Hall.


Dark sky discovery site

Designated as a Dark Sky Discovery Site this location is accessible by members of the public and are officially recognised as excellent places to stargaze. Such locations often have free overnight car parking, some have toilet facilities and most do not allow overnight camping.
