Eric Tomney Memorial Observatory
Mugdock Country Park, Milngavie, Lanarkshire, G62 8EL
The Eric Tomney Memorial Observatory, located near the visitor centre in Mugdock Country Park, was completed in Summer 2022 and is a fantastic location for astronomers from the Astronomical Society of Glasgow to share their passion and enthusiasm for the night skies.
The observatory is home to a 14″ reflecting telescope which will offer incredible views of the cosmos during stargazing events planned in collaboration between the Society and the country park.
The facility is named after long-standing member and former President the late Mr Eric Tomney, with additional memorium to the Society’s late Treasurer, Mr Tom Clackson, who was a driving force behind the project.
