Bayfordbury Observatory guided astronomy evening
Friday 17th April 2026 from 18:00pm to 20:00pm
Bayfordbury Observatory
Lower Hatfield Road, Bayfordbury, Hertfordshire, SG13 8LD
Bayfordbury Observatory Guided Astronomy Evenings combine the best elements of our popular Open Evenings and Private Visits, offering a relaxed and engaging introduction to the wonders of the Universe.
During this two-hour experience at Bayfordbury Observatory, visitors will enjoy a guided tour of the observatory facilities, a fascinating astronomy talk delivered by one of our Astrophysics students, and an immersive planetarium show. Weather permitting, there will also be an opportunity to observe celestial objects through a range of our telescopes.
Depending on the time of year and the weather conditions, we will aim to observe different targets. Between October and March, we will attempt to view objects in the night sky. Between April and September, we will use our solar telescopes to reveal features on the Sun’s surface.
These visits are ideal for individuals, families and small groups who may not meet the minimum numbers required for our Private Astronomy Visits. Activities are designed to be suitable for all ages, unless otherwise stated in the list of upcoming visits.
