Astronomy Night at RSPB Frampton

Astronomy Night at RSPB Frampton

Saturday 17th October 2026 from 19:03pm to 21:30pm

RSPB Frampton Marsh
Frampton Road, Boston, Lincolnshire, PE20 1AY, East Midlands

Join Peterborough Astronomical Society for an evening exploring the wonders of the night sky at the reserve.

Suitable for beginners and experienced stargazers alike, the evening offers the chance to observe through telescopes and binoculars, as well as simply enjoying the stars with the naked eye. Knowledgeable astronomers from Peterborough Astronomical Society will guide you around the night sky, point out interesting celestial objects and be on hand to answer your astronomy questions.

There will also be presentations inside the visitor centre, where simple hot drinks will be available, providing plenty to enjoy alongside the outdoor observing.

As stargazing is weather dependent, a decision on whether the event can go ahead will be made approximately 48 hours beforehand, with all booked participants notified. If conditions are changeable on the night, the event may continue with a greater focus on the indoor presentations.

The event is suitable for ages 8 and over. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a paying adult. Please note that dogs are not permitted at this event.

Event darkness

The Moon has a big impact on the visibility of celestial bodies in the night sky. Try to plan your stargazing when there is no bright Moon at night as this is when the skies will be at their darkest.

The below chart shows if and when the skies will be at their darkest during this event. Moonlight is shown in light yellow and the Sun's twilight in light blue. Midnight on the date shown is shown as a white line with sunset to the left and sunrise the next morning to the right. A black background with stars shows the best times for stargazing.
