Tunley Recreation Centre
Coronation Villas, Tunley, BA2 0DZ
Join local astronomer Ian Straton for an evening of astronomy at the Tunley Recreation Centre. Ian will talk about the ancient history of star observations, starting with cave art and aboriginal constellations, moving on towards the introduction of optics and the professionalisation of the science then following a thread of scientific and artistic contribution of amateur astronomers up to the modern day.
The talk will last around an hour then there will be a Q/A session and a show and tell on a few different optical systems that will be brought along. If the weather is nice the show and tell bit will be outside with the opportunity to observe the Moon as the main target.
Please note that this event has already taken place on 16/05/2019
