Stargazing in North Peninnes National Landscape

The North Pennines National Landscape has truly embraced one of its greatest natural treasures – its exceptionally dark skies. Far from the intrusion of city lights, this protected landscape offers some of the clearest and darkest night skies in England, making it a haven for astronomers and casual stargazers alike.

As one of the very first Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONBs) to establish official Dark Sky Discovery Sites, the region has committed itself to celebrating and protecting this unique resource.
