The Solent Amateur Astronomers are a friendly and active astronomy group based in the Southampton area. Their home is the fantastic Toothill Observatory, located just north of the city, from which they host regular public open evenings.

Everyone is very much welcome to join their astronomy club, the benefits of which include free use of their fully equipped observatory, hire of binoculars and telescopes, attendance to regular talks and a monthly newsletter, all for a very reasonable annual fee!

  • Solent Amateur Astronomers meeting

    The third Tuesday of the month from January 2026 to December 2026

    The friendly Solent Amateur Astronomers invite you to their regular meetings at Oasis Academy on the third Tuesday of each month (the second Tuesday in December). These group sessions tend to be formal, with a presentation by a guest speaker; however, they offer the opportunity to meet local astronomers and learn more about the group's observing sessions at their fantastic Toothill Observatory. Note that some meetings may only occur on Zoom; please check with the Society to confirm.
