North Pennines National Landscape

Visit website

The North Pennines National Landscape is widely regarded as one of the darkest areas in England, making it exceptionally well suited for stargazing. Its remote moorlands, deep valleys, and high open fells experience very low levels of light pollution, allowing clear views of the Milky Way, constellations, and meteor showers on dark, moonless nights.

With expansive horizons and quiet rural locations far from major towns, the North Pennines offers excellent conditions for both casual night-sky observers and amateur astronomers seeking a truly immersive stargazing experience.
