Scottish Dark Sky Observatory
Clatteringshaws, Near New Galloway, Kirkcudbrightshire, DG7 3SQ
As of late 2024, the new Scottish Dark Sky Observatory is going through its planning phase having found a new home at Clatteringshaws.
In January 2026 a planning application was submitted to Dumfries and Galloway Council outlining the new facility including a planetarium and visitor centre. This application can be viewed here.
In March 2026 the planning application was accepted and work will commence soon!
Go Stargazing is excited at the prospect of this new observatory in the Galloway Forest Dark Sky Park, and look forward to supporting the venue, their activities and events in the near future.
