Romance Under the Stars - Crickhowell Railway Carriage
Forest Coal Pit, Abergavenny, Gwent, NP7 7LL
Set in a secluded orchard with sweeping panoramic views along the Bryn Awr Valley towards the Brecon Beacons, this beautifully restored Victorian railway carriage offers a truly unique countryside escape. Hand-crafted from local hillside timber, it sits in a peaceful spot with wonderful walks right from the door, a welcoming local pub nearby, and the charming town of Crickhowell just five miles away.
Originally used during the construction of the reservoir at the head of the valley, the carriage has been lovingly transformed into a cosy, characterful retreat. A large picture window slides open onto a private deck, perfectly framing the spectacular views, while a clear roof panel above the bed allows you to lie back and stargaze in comfort.
Inside, you’ll find a hand-built bespoke kitchen, a warming wood burner, a blissfully soft double bed with generous storage beneath, a stylish wet room, a dining table, and two comfortable leather chairs — all thoughtfully arranged to provide comfort while preserving the charm and history of this remarkable space.
Stay & Gaze - this location benefits from dark skies, relatively low levels of light pollution, is astronomy friendly and suitable for stargazing breaks.
