The Astronomy Centre Public Open Evenings

The Astronomy Centre Public Open Evenings

Saturday 30th March 2024 from 19:30pm to 23:00pm

The Astronomy Centre
Bacup Road A681, Near Todmorden, Lancashire, OL14 7HP

The Astronomy Centre near Todmorden is open to the public every Saturday until late throughout the year.

Join their friendly team of astronomers for a tour of the facility and explore the skies with various telescopes, including a huge 30″ aperture Dobsonian telescope and 8″ refractor.

Observing using telescopes is weather permitting, with talks and presentations taking place if the weather is cloudy or the skies are light.

We recommend booking one of their formal sessions, which starts at 18.00 for juniors, 19.30 and 20.45 for adults.

Drop-in visitors are welcome to use the central area informally for casual observing, which may be supervised (staff permitting).

Safe solar observation and the Camera Obscura are available when the weather allows, pre-booking is advised.

Volunteers run the venue entirely; a minimum cash donation of £2.00 is asked for to help cover costs.

Please note that this has already taken place on 30/03/2024
