Thursday 18th April 2024 from 00:19am to 21:30pm
Ampleforth Village Hall
West End, Ampleforth, North Yorkshire, YO62 4DU, Yorkshire and The Humber England
This event is free to people who live in the Howardian Hills National Landscape (North Yorkshire) or in nearby bordering areas. But please register on this page to reserve a spot as numbers are limited.
Join us for a free presentation at Ampleforth Village Hall on stargazing and the importance of keeping our skies starry. It is part of a new dark skies project by the Howardian Hills Partnership to promote and protect our precious nocturnal environment.
Did you know that light pollution means that over 80% of people in the UK can no longer see the Milky Way? But we can and lots of other wonders too because of low light pollution.
We want to keep it that way.
Besides explaining the finer points of dark sky friendly lighting, we’ll also take you on a magical journey through the cosmos using a special plantetarium programme. Plus we’ll offer tips on stargazing equipment.
Please note that this has already taken place on 18/04/2024
