Sherwood Observatory Public Open Day

Join Mansfield and Sutton Astronomical Society members as they open their observatory for an afternoon of solar observing.

Here, you will get a chance to view the Sun via our dedicated solar telescope (weather permitting). Depending on the activity of the Sun expect to see real-time views of the Chromosphere where large eruptions of solar material eject into space can be seen.

Also, we will have a rolling talk taking place inside our lecture room by Tahir Ahmed. The Radio Astronomy Centre will be open for visitors to learn about meteor detection and to take in some live solar radio astronomy too.
