See the partial eclipse from the Isle of Man

Tuesday 25th October 2022 from 08:30am to 12:00pm

The Sound Restaurant - Isle of Man
Sound Road, Port Erin, Isle of Man, IM9 5PZ

Isle of Man Astronomer Howard Parkin tours the world lecturing on astronomy. He’s a fabulous advocate for our dark skies, appointed by the International Dark Skies Association.

Our friends at The Cafe at the Sound have teamed up with Howard to host an eclipse breakfast on 25 October, offering a fabulous opportunity to experience dramatic evidence of our place in the solar system, caused when the Sun, Moon and Earth align. Tickets are available from the Sound Cafe, or call 01624 838123.

See more details on our guide to viewing the partial eclipse on the 25th of October.

Please note that this has already taken place on 25/10/2022

Event darkness

The Moon has a big impact on the visibility of celestial bodies in the night sky. Try to plan your stargazing when there is no bright Moon at night as this is when the skies will be at their darkest.

The below chart shows if and when the skies will be at their darkest during this event. Moonlight is shown in light yellow and the Sun's twilight in light blue. Midnight on the date shown is shown as a white line with sunset to the left and sunrise the next morning to the right. A black background with stars shows the best times for stargazing.
