See marvellous Mars at Bore Place

See marvellous Mars at Bore Place

Thursday 8th December 2022 from 18:30pm to 20:30pm

Bore Place Country House and Outdoor Education Centre
Chiddingstone, Edenbridge, Kent, TN8 7AR, South East

Every other year, Mars comes closest to the Earth; luckily for us, December 2022 is that time! The Edenbridge and District Astronomers will be here with their telescopes to show you, Mars, at its most significant and brightest. We will also be looking out for Saturn, Jupiter and the Moon.

If we can’t be outside due to the weather, there will be illustrated indoor talks about Mars.

Please note that this has already taken place on 08/12/2022

Event darkness

The Moon has a big impact on the visibility of celestial bodies in the night sky. Try to plan your stargazing when there is no bright Moon at night as this is when the skies will be at their darkest.

The below chart shows if and when the skies will be at their darkest during this event. Moonlight is shown in light yellow and the Sun's twilight in light blue. Midnight on the date shown is shown as a white line with sunset to the left and sunrise the next morning to the right. A black background with stars shows the best times for stargazing.
