Sutton Bank Star Hub
Sutton Bank National Park Centre, Thirsk, North Yorkshire, YO7 2EX
The ringed world of Saturn and giant Jupiter will be our primary targets as we stage a spectacular star party. Powerful telescopes will reveal their secrets, plus we will venture further afield in space to view star clusters and even glimpse the Milky Way.
The moon will be on the rise in the east and there’ll be a colourful interactive planetarium tour. The Hub provides a warm indoor space and a perfect viewing area.
The North York Moors National Park is an international dark sky reserve because of its low levels of light pollution. Wear sensible outdoor footwear, wrap up warm and bring binoculars if you have them (but we’ll provide the telescopes!).
The below chart shows if and when the skies will be at their darkest during this event. Moonlight is shown in light yellow and the Sun's twilight in light blue. Midnight on the date shown is shown as a white line with sunset to the left and sunrise the next morning to the right. A black background with stars shows the best times for stargazing.
