Royal Institution Public Talk - Let there be light! (family)
Saturday 26th April 2025 from 14:00pm to 15:15pm
The Royal Institution
21 Albermarle Street, London, London, W1S 4BS
Light is one of the most interesting aspects of the Universe, letting us see and feel the world around us. It’s one of the most studied topics in physics, with researchers exploring the way we see, learn, and connect to every around us. But why does light exist?
Join physicist and gravitational wave expert Gideon Koekoek as he explores the special properties of light and shows that it is a necessary ingredient of all fundamental physics, in this demo packed talk.
Discover how the laws of quantum mechanics, relativity and thermodynamics all fall apart without the electromagnetic spectrum and what lies behind the phenomenon that gives us the beautiful colours we see before us.
This event is particularly suitable for those aged 10+.
