Observing with Melton and District Astronomical Society

Observing with Melton and District Astronomical Society

Friday 26th April 2024 from 19:30pm to 21:30pm

Gaddesby Village Hall
Ashby Road, Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, LE7 4WF

Join members of Melton and District Astronomical Society for one of their regular meetings. These meetings often include a talk or presentation; however, being predominantly an observing Society, the priority is always to get outside and look up!

Professor Julian Onions is coming to speak to us, his talk is entitled ‘Crazy Interstellar Rockets’. What sort of rockets or spaceships could we use to go to the distant stars. We will explore some of the crazier designs that have been proposed over the years, most of which have some possibility of working. The future may be nearer than we think!

Members bring an assortment of telescopes which visitors are welcome to use; this is an excellent opportunity for beginners to find out how to start their interest in astronomy.

Please note that this has already taken place on 26/04/2024
