Observe the lunar eclipse at Reculver Towers
Sunday 7th September 2025 from 19:00pm to 22:00pm
Reculver Towers and Roman Fort
Reculver Road, Herne Bay, Kent, CT6 6SU, South East England
Join Michaela Heath from the Beacon Astronomy Group on Sunday 7th September to witness a spectacular total lunar eclipse.
The Moon will rise at around 7:33pm, already in eclipse. Although totality occurs at 7:11pm, before the Moon rises for the UK, we will experience a dramatic “blood moon” rise, with the Moon appearing much darker than usual. It will then gradually emerge from Earth’s umbra and penumbra until approximately 9:55pm.
We will meet in the Reculver Towers car park, and if you would like to attend, please arrive by 7:00pm. Bring binoculars or a telescope if you have them, or simply come along and enjoy the view with us.
Please note that this has already taken place on 07/09/2025
