Stargazing festival by North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
The North Pennines Stargazing Festival runs from the 20th of October to the 5th of November 2023 and celebrates the fantastic starry skies in the region. The festival has been running since 2017 to make it easy for people to celebrate the area’s dark skies and discover its nocturnal wildlife.
A centre-piece of this year’s festival is a Creatures of the night trail from Bowlees Visitor Centre, where walkers who complete the self-guided trail answer questions to win an animal-themed prize!
Also, the family-friendly North Pennines Stargazing Festival Star Camp returns to Doe Park with astronomers from Go Stargazing offering guided tours of the night skies, viewing using large aperture telescopes and rocket competition!
