Join the Mid-Kent Astronomical Society for a talk by Professor David Rees – Sprites, Elves and Gnomes.
At some point, we have all been amazed at the impressive audible and visual spectacle of a powerful thunderstorm. Blinded by the overwhelming visual spectacle, we are unaware of the powerful processes in the Earth’s upper atmosphere unleashed by these storms called “Transient Luminous Events”. The talk will describe the many fascinating discoveries of the past 30 years
