Learn the constellations at Bore Place

Learn the constellations at Bore Place

Friday 18th November 2022 from 18:30pm to 20:30pm

Bore Place Country House and Outdoor Education Centre
Chiddingstone, Edenbridge, Kent, TN8 7AR, South East

Enjoy the starlit skies above Bore Place and be led through the constellations with the Edenbridge and District Astronomers.

Hear the stories ancient astronomers told as they tried to understand the heavens, named the stars and imagined the constellations.

If the weather is cloudy, we will have illustrated talks indoors about the constellations so you’re prepped to go star spotting on the next clear night.

Please note that this has already taken place on 18/11/2022

Event darkness

The Moon has a big impact on the visibility of celestial bodies in the night sky. Try to plan your stargazing when there is no bright Moon at night as this is when the skies will be at their darkest.

The below chart shows if and when the skies will be at their darkest during this event. Moonlight is shown in light yellow and the Sun's twilight in light blue. Midnight on the date shown is shown as a white line with sunset to the left and sunrise the next morning to the right. A black background with stars shows the best times for stargazing.
