High Legh Community Observatory group meeting

High Legh Community Observatory group meeting

Thursday 12th January 2023 from 19:30pm to 21:30pm

St John's Church - High Legh
The Avenue, High Legh, 6ND

The amateur astronomy group that runs events at the nearby High Legh Community Observatory meets on each month’s second Thursday. These meetings are open to the public (a small fee is charged on the door) and involve an interesting presentation or lecture by an expert in astronomy.

These group meetings do not necessarily involve practical stargazing; however, they are a great way to meet local astronomers and find out more about their observatory.

Please note that this has already taken place on 12/01/2023

Event darkness

The Moon has a big impact on the visibility of celestial bodies in the night sky. Try to plan your stargazing when there is no bright Moon at night as this is when the skies will be at their darkest.

The below chart shows if and when the skies will be at their darkest during this event. Moonlight is shown in light yellow and the Sun's twilight in light blue. Midnight on the date shown is shown as a white line with sunset to the left and sunrise the next morning to the right. A black background with stars shows the best times for stargazing.
