Fun after Dark in the Park - National Astronomy Week

Saturday 8th February 2025 from 17:00pm to 18:30pm

Glenlivet Estate Office
Main Street, Tomintoul, Banffshire, AB37 9EX, Scotland

Celebrate National Astronomy Week with storytelling under the stars and rope walking in the dark!

Join Nana Tomova for wonderful stories of the stars and then use a rope trail to wind through the dark forest and find your way to the centre of the maze.

Everyone welcome to this family friendly event. Volunteers will be there to help guide you to the woods where everything will be taking place. Bring your own mug and we will provide the hot chocolate, tea, and coffee. Wrap up really, really, really warm! Blankets will be provided for the storytelling. Please also bring a torch!

This is a free event with no booking required. Please contact [email protected] if you have any questions.

Event darkness

The Moon has a big impact on the visibility of celestial bodies in the night sky. Try to plan your stargazing when there is no bright Moon at night as this is when the skies will be at their darkest.

The below chart shows if and when the skies will be at their darkest during this event. Moonlight is shown in light yellow and the Sun's twilight in light blue. Midnight on the date shown is shown as a white line with sunset to the left and sunrise the next morning to the right. A black background with stars shows the best times for stargazing.
