Stargazing festival by Friends of the Lake District

The Cumbria Dark Skies Festival takes place between the 12th and 26th February 2022. It features a wide variety of events, all celebrating the fabulous dark skies above the region.

Enjoy a dark skies stroll through Whinlatter Forest, go UV rock pooling on the West Coast, connect with the Universe at wellbeing events, you can also brush up on your photography skills with an evening of astrophotography. In addition, online sessions encompass Astro-tourism and even an online planetarium show!

On Saturday 26th February is the Ambelside and Grasmere ‘Big Switch off‘ where residents and businesses will be invited to switch off and enjoy the stars on the night.

Cumbria Dark Skies Festival is a partnership of Friends of the Lake District, Cumbria Tourism, Forestry England, Cumbria Wildlife Trust and the Lake District National Park.
