Astronomy talks - The scale of the solar system

Join Go Stargazing astronomer Dr Fred Stevenson for this one of a series of fascinating lectures in the Friarage Theatre at the Princess Alexandria Auditorium.
In this talk we will discuss the scale of the solar system – from our nearest neighbour the Moon to the farthest objects from the Sun way beyond the most distant planet Neptune – the trans Neptunian objects.
We will consider the origin of the solar system and then give a brief overview of each major planet and their interesting families of moons. We will show how to find planets in the night sky and briefly discuss the equipment needed to observe them in more detail.
