Hampstead Observatory public open evening
Friday, Saturday every week from January 2023 to April 2023
Hampstead Observatory
Hampstead Grove, Hampstead, London, NW3 1DU
Join the friendly volunteers from the Hampstead Scientific Society as they open the dome of their fabulous Victorian observatory to the heavens!
The Hampstead Observatory is home to a stunning Cooke refracting telescope which offers impressive views of the Moon, planets, star clusters and double stars.
The observatory is scheduled to open on Friday and Saturday evenings from Autumn to Spring.
Weather and the availability of volunteers will determine if the event goes ahead.
Tickets (free of charge) are required to attend and become available to book on Wednesday before. If no tickets are available for this date, then the event is not planned to take place. However, if tickets are available (they’re very popular) and you manage to book, you will be informed if the observatory is to open on the day.
Whilst visiting is free, cash donations are much appreciated, with all monies going directly to the running of the observatory.
This is a great evening out for families and everyone interested in astronomy, and we highly recommend visiting. Clear skies!
Please note that this has already taken place on 01/01/2023
