Public stargazing at the Astronomy Centre
Saturday every week from January 2025 to December 2025
The Astronomy Centre
Bacup Road A681, Near Todmorden, Lancashire, OL14 7HP
The Astronomy Centre near Todmorden is open to the public every Saturday until late throughout the year.
Join their friendly team of astronomers for a tour of the facility and explore the skies with various telescopes, including a huge 30″ aperture Dobsonian telescope and 8″ refractor.
Observing using telescopes is weather permitting, with talks and presentations taking place if the weather is cloudy or the skies are light.
We recommend booking one of their formal sessions, which starts at 18.00 for juniors, 19.30 and 20.45 for adults.
Drop-in visitors are welcome to use the central area informally for casual observing, which may be supervised (staff permitting).
Safe solar observation and the Camera Obscura are available when the weather allows, pre-booking is advised.
Volunteers run the venue entirely; a minimum donation of £3.00 per person (£1.00 for children) is asked for to help cover costs.
