Snowdonia National Park was awarded Dark Sky Reserve status in December 2015. This was in recognition of the significant efforts to reduce light pollution and the wonderful dark skies that are now protected. This region covers 18% of Wales' land area and not only looks stunning during the daytime but at night-time too. Numerous activities and lots of stargazing friendly places to stay make a stargazing visit to Snowdonia well worthwhile.
The map below shows places to go stargazing in Snowdonia Dark Sky Reserve including observatories, officially recognised dark sky locations and recommended sites. We very much welcome suggestions if you'd like to contact us.
