The historic Mills observatory is the first purpose-built observatory in Britain, with its sole aim to educate and encourage the public’s understanding of science.

The impressive sandstone building stands proud atop Balgay Hill within a wood on Dundee city centre’s outskirts. It boasts fantastic views over the River Tay from its dome and balcony areas.

Join the experienced and friendly staff as they give you a guided tour of fascinating objects seen through their range of telescopes.

Admission is free, except for selected events, and there is no need to book a visit; simply drop in! An excellent experience for everyone!

Mills Observatory is also used as a meeting venue for the Dundee Astronomical Society.
