Dalby Forest StarFest 2022

Dalby Forest StarFest 2022

Thursday 18th August 2022 from 12:00pm to Monday 22nd August 2022 12:00pm

Dalby Forest Adderstone Field
Dalby, Thornton-le-Dale, Yorkshire, YO18 7LT

Tucked away in the heart of The Great Dalby Forest is Adderstone Field, home to the annual stargazing festival organised by the Scarborough and Ryedale Astronomical Society.

The event takes place around a new moon period, and that, combined with being distant from local light pollution, means the dark skies above Dalby reveal fabulous views of the Milky Way arching from one tree-lined horizon to the other.

The event is open to the public, and everyone who goes along is guaranteed a warm welcome. However, with this being an official “star camp”, attendees are asked to abide by “red light” rules (strictly no white light at night) and be mindful of astronomers who stay up most of the night and enjoy a lie-in the following morning!

Welcome drinks and nibbles will be on offer on Friday, and each evening there will be astronomy talks in the main marquee whilst the skies darken.

As well as having amazing dark skies, Dalby Forest is a fantastic place to explore in the daytime. This event makes for a great family weekend away, with a difference!

Please note that this has already taken place on 18/08/2022
