Astrophotography on Holy Island
Saturday 7th September 2024 from 19:00pm to 23:00pm
Holy Island Chare Ends Car Park
Chare Ends, Berwick-upon-Tweed, Northumberland, TD15 2SE
This workshop is timed for full astronomical darkness, and maximum visibility of the summer Milky Way.
The route will depend on the group’s preferences, and shooting opportunities. We usually do a short, circular walk, taking in Lindisfarne Castle, and the harbour.
The exact subjects will chosen on the night, but we usually aim for wide views, with as much sky as possible. Over the years, we’ve found a number of really good compositions for Milky Way shots, including landscape features like boats, fisherman’s huts, the harbour and, of course, Lindisfarne Castle.
We welcome all ability levels, from absolute beginners, to people who’ve dabbled with night photography, to more experienced photographers.
The beauty of taking photographs at night is that you start with a blank canvas, and don’t have to allow for daylight. You can either shoot in available light, or add your own with a torch (if you don’t know how to yet, we’ll show you).
