The North Peninnes has embraced one of the wonderful natural resources it has -- fantastic dark skies. Being one of the first AONB's to create official dark sky discovery sites a number of publicly accessible stargazing locations make it a great region for stargazing. The North Peninnes Observatory in Allenheads opens its doors in January 2017. Stargazing in North Peninnes AONB has an exciting future ahead.
