That’s One Small Step – The Story of Apollo

Wednesday 24th July 2019 from 19:30pm to 20:30pm

South Downs Planetarium and Science Centre

Kingsham Road, Chichester, PO19 8RP

Description

Step back 50 years to the momentous summer of '69 when Neil Armstrong and 'Buzz' Aldrin from the crew of Apollo 11 landed on the Moon and returned safely to the Earth with their colleague Michael Collins, who had remained aloft circling the Moon.

As well as gathering samples of rocks and dust from the lunar surface, their mission also included many scientific experiments and the placing of a Laser Ranging Retroreflector to monitor the distance of the Moon from the Earth. Armstrong and Aldrin took many photographs both of the terrain and of each other during their brief stay on the surface. Join us at the Planetarium to learn about the history, technological and logistic, challenges, culminating in the success of this truly momentous time in history.

This show will feature brand new immersive FULLDOME video sequences.
