Telescope Workshop & Observing at Standalone Farm

Telescope Workshop & Observing at Standalone Farm

Saturday 25th January 2020 from 16:00pm to 18:00pm

Letchworth Observatory
Standalone Farm, Letchworth Garden City, SG6 4JN

Did you get a new telescope for Christmas? Do you have one that you aren’t sure how to use? Members of Letchworth & District Astronomical Society are very happy to assist and are running a free (donations welcome) beginners telescope workshop. If you’d like to go along simply contact them to let them know you’ll be going and also what scope you have. The event is free of charge although donations to the society would be welcome. The event starts a little earlier to make it easier to bring younger children along. If the skies are clear, the observatory will be open afterwards.

Please note that this event has already taken place on 25/01/2020

Event darkness

The Moon has a big impact on the visibility of celestial bodies in the night sky. Try to plan your stargazing when there is no bright Moon at night as this is when the skies will be at their darkest.

The below chart shows if and when the skies will be at their darkest during this event. Moonlight is shown in light yellow and the Sun's twilight in light blue. Midnight on the date shown is shown as a white line with sunset to the left and sunrise the next morning to the right. A black background with stars shows the best times for stargazing.
