If Santa brought you a telescope for Christmas and you need help in setting up and using it then come along to the J A Jones Observatory on Thursday 27th December 2018. MSAS members will be on hand to give help and advice and hopefully lead you through ‘first light’. The observatory will be open from 4 pm until 8 pm and attendance is free (this event was first publicised on the Society’s facebook page).

Event darkness

The Moon has a big impact on the visibility of celestial bodies in the night sky. Try to plan your stargazing when there is no bright Moon at night as this is when the skies will be at their darkest.
