Join Macclesfield Astronomical Society for a daytime event to view our closest star, the Sun, with equipment that is safe to use. Our observers will be able to answer a range of questions about the Sun and it’s working. Observing will be available using supplied equipment, weather permitting. You are welcome to bring your own binoculars or even telescopes. Booking and payment in advance is essential. Cost £5.

Event darkness

The Moon has a big impact on the visibility of celestial bodies in the night sky. Try to plan your stargazing when there is no bright Moon at night as this is when the skies will be at their darkest.
