Tan Hill Skywatch

Friday 1st November 2019 from 19:00pm to 22:00pm

Tan Hill Inn
Reeth, Richmond, DL11 6ED

Fred Stevenson, from Go Stargazing, will speak about recent and ongoing space missions and their discoveries. We will look at a range of fantastic images from probes which have visited the Moon, Venus, Mars and Jupiter. After Fred’s talk we will (weather permitting) enjoy some live stargazing from Britain’s highest public house and designated Dark Sky Discovery Site in the North Pennines.

Anyone interested in attending this event who cannot get a ticket through official channels might like to check this Facebook post as some people with tickets are now not able to go.

This event is taking place as part of the North Pennines Stargazing Festival 2019 running from 23rd October to 3rd November 2019.

Please note that this event has already taken place on 01/11/2019

Event darkness

The Moon has a big impact on the visibility of celestial bodies in the night sky. Try to plan your stargazing when there is no bright Moon at night as this is when the skies will be at their darkest.

The below chart shows if and when the skies will be at their darkest during this event. Moonlight is shown in light yellow and the Sun's twilight in light blue. Midnight on the date shown is shown as a white line with sunset to the left and sunrise the next morning to the right. A black background with stars shows the best times for stargazing.
