Stars over the Howardian Hills at Welburn
Saturday 16th September 2023 from 19:30pm to 22:00pm
Welburn Village Hall
Church Lane, Welburn, North Yorkshire, YO60 7EG
Join us for an exciting stargazing evening in the beautiful village of Wellburn! It’s part of the Howardian Hills Partnership’s new dark skies project to promote and protect our precious nocturnal environment.
Did you know that light pollution means that over 80% of UK people can no longer see the Milky Way? But we can and many other wonders too because of low light pollution.
Astronomer Richard Darn will have a colourful beginner’s introduction to stargazing and explain why we must keep our dark skies for wildlife and people.
Telescopes and binoculars will also be ready to share views of the heavens given clear conditions.
Even if it’s cloudy, we will use a planetarium program to take you on a cosmic journey.
This is a FREE event! Please reserve your space via the Eventbrite website.
Please note that this has already taken place on 16/09/2023
