Stargazing with Astronomy Scotland at Powrie Park

Stargazing with Astronomy Scotland at Powrie Park

Saturday 8th October 2022 from 18:00pm to 23:00pm

Powrie Park
Abernethy, Perth, Perthshire, PH2 9JS

Join David from Astronomy Scotland for a star party at Powrie Park near Abernethy. The plan is to have a few scopes set up in the park, do some outreach for local cubs and newcomers, and a planetarium will be set up in the pavilion if the weather is poor. All comers are welcome with no prior booking required. Bring along your telescope for expert advice. There are facilities on-site and snacks will be available. Come along, rain, hail or shine!

Please note that this has already taken place on 08/10/2022

Event darkness

The Moon has a big impact on the visibility of celestial bodies in the night sky. Try to plan your stargazing when there is no bright Moon at night as this is when the skies will be at their darkest.

The below chart shows if and when the skies will be at their darkest during this event. Moonlight is shown in light yellow and the Sun's twilight in light blue. Midnight on the date shown is shown as a white line with sunset to the left and sunrise the next morning to the right. A black background with stars shows the best times for stargazing.
