RSPB Dumfries and Galloway
The Old School, Crossmichael, DG7 3AP
Join local astronomer Chris Walker for stargazing and RSPB to learn about the wonderful wildlife that roam the reserve at night!
There will be a host of activities for adults and kids to enjoy; look through telescopes to view the moon, stars and planets in all their glory, talks from Chris Walker, learn about the nocturnal wildlife on the reserve, make mammal track traps, face painting for kids (and adults if they want) and more!
We’re lucky at the Mull of Galloway to have next to no light pollution and clear views of the night sky (even with lighthouse light on!). With clear skies, we can expect to see Jupiter and Saturn.
On the night of the event:
Please wrap up warm and wear sturdy footwear, as the stargazing activities will be held outside.
Please note that this event has already taken place on 17/10/2019
The below chart shows if and when the skies will be at their darkest during this event. Moonlight is shown in light yellow and the Sun's twilight in light blue. Midnight on the date shown is shown as a white line with sunset to the left and sunrise the next morning to the right. A black background with stars shows the best times for stargazing.
